Manufacturing and Hi-Tech

Software, IoT, ERP integration, data and automation services for manufacturers and hi-tech companies: shop-floor apps, connected products and modernization.

Email hello@ps3g.com

Manufacturers and hi-tech companies run on systems that were installed one at a time: an ERP, a scheduling spreadsheet, a quality database, machines that log to a historian nobody reads. PS3G provides manufacturing software development, IoT, ERP integration, data and automation services for organizations of every size, from a job shop whose owner still quotes in Excel, to a contract electronics manufacturer with several sites, to an engineering group inside a global OEM that needs a connected-product platform built and run.

Manufacturing and Hi-Tech - PS3G

We build the shop-floor and customer-facing applications, connect them to your ERP and plant systems, put the data where people can use it, and modernize the legacy applications that hold the plant together. Our engineers work from Wilmington, Delaware and our India delivery center, on Microsoft and open-source stacks.

What we build for manufacturers

  • Shop-floor applications: tablet-based work instructions, production and downtime tracking, quality checks and non-conformance capture, barcode and RFID scanning, and label printing, built to keep working on a plant network with intermittent connectivity.
  • Quoting, scheduling and planning tools: estimating and configure-price-quote tools for engineer-to-order work, scheduling boards, capacity views and shortage alerts that replace shared spreadsheets.
  • Customer and supplier portals: order status, drawings and revision control, delivery schedules and supplier scorecards.
  • Manufacturing website development: sites with product configurators, spec sheets, dealer locators and request-for-quote forms that feed your CRM, built to load fast and rank for the parts and capabilities you sell.
  • Field service and maintenance apps: work orders, asset history, parts and checklists for technicians, with offline support.

Systems we commonly integrate

ERP (SAP, Oracle JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the smaller systems common in job shops), MES, PLM and CAD data vaults, quality management systems, warehouse management, SCADA and PLC data through OPC UA and historians, CRM, EDI with large customers, shipping carriers, and the scanners, scales and printers on the floor.

Typical first projects

Organization A common first engagement What it usually becomes
Job shop or small manufacturer A fixed-scope scheduling or quoting app that replaces the spreadsheet, integrated with the ERP you already have Shop-floor tracking, a customer portal, dashboards
Mid-size manufacturer with one or more plants Machine monitoring on the lines that matter most, or an ERP-to-MES integration that removes re-keying A plant data platform and predictive-maintenance pilots
Division of a global OEM or hi-tech company A connected-product platform for telemetry from the devices you sell, or modernization of a legacy plant application A dedicated team working inside your program and security rules

IoT and connected products

Industrial IoT starts with a question, not a platform: which machines, lines or products would you run differently if you could see them in real time? From there we retrofit sensors or read the PLCs you already have, place a gateway on the plant network to buffer data and translate protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT), stream the data to Azure IoT Hub or AWS IoT Core, and build the alerts, dashboards and maintenance workflows on top. For hi-tech companies that ship devices, we build the connected-product side: provisioning, telemetry, remote diagnostics, over-the-air updates and the customer app.

We have done this end to end. Our fall-detection footwear build for seniors moved sensor data through a gateway to the cloud, alerted a central office and learned each wearer’s gait: the same device-to-cloud pattern a machine-monitoring or connected-product project uses. Our IoT development and consulting page covers the architecture, platforms and device security practices behind our IoT solutions.

ERP, MES and data

Most manufacturing data problems are integration problems. The ERP holds items, bills of material, routings, orders and costs; the MES or shop-floor system holds what happened; quality, maintenance and shipping each keep their own records. We connect these through the ERP’s APIs or integration layer, a message queue where volumes are high, or scheduled file exchange where that is all a legacy system offers. ERP integration is where our ERP consulting on SAP and Microsoft Dynamics meets our development team, and where master-data discipline pays off.

Once the systems talk, we put the data in a warehouse or lakehouse and build the reporting plant managers, finance and sales will use: cost by job, scrap by cause, OEE by line, on-time delivery by customer, in Power BI or a custom dashboard. Our data analytics team builds this on SQL Server, Azure or AWS data services. For repetitive back-office steps such as order entry from emailed purchase orders, invoice matching and supplier onboarding, AI and RPA automation removes the re-keying without replacing the systems.

Modernizing plant systems

Plants accumulate applications that cannot be switched off: a VB6 or .NET Framework program that drives a line, an Access database that holds the quality records, a Windows-only HMI, a vendor system whose supplier has disappeared. We modernize these without stopping production. The options, in order of disruption, are rehosting on supported infrastructure, replatforming to a current runtime, extending through new APIs and a modern front end, and rebuilding with a parallel run until the old system can be retired. Our application modernization service covers all four; our testing center of excellence validates each step.

Regulated manufacturing adds requirements we plan for from the start: FDA 21 CFR Part 11 expectations for electronic records and signatures in medical device and pharmaceutical production, AS9100 traceability in aerospace, and ITAR or EAR export controls on technical data. Where export-controlled data is involved, we agree the staffing and data-handling model with you up front, including US-only access where required. Defense suppliers facing CMMC can read more on our public sector and defense suppliers page. This is general information, not legal advice.

How we work with manufacturers

Fixed-scope projects for a defined deliverable, a dedicated team or staff augmentation that scales with your roadmap, managed services where we run and support the applications under defined SLAs, or advisory for assessments and roadmaps. How we start: a first conversation, a short assessment that often includes a plant visit, and a written proposal. We build and run our own software products, so we know what it takes to keep a system working after the project ends.

Ask for a fixed-scope quote for your shop-floor app, integration or modernization.

Frequently asked questions

What does manufacturing software development usually start with?

Usually with the spreadsheet or paper process that causes the most pain: scheduling, quoting, quality records or downtime logging. We replace that one process with an application that reads from and writes to your ERP, so nobody re-keys data, and prove the approach on one line or department before expanding it.

Can you connect to our ERP and MES?

Yes. SAP, Oracle JD Edwards and Microsoft Dynamics 365 expose APIs or integration frameworks; smaller ERPs often offer a database view or file import. We confirm what your license and vendor allow, build against a test instance, and document every interface. If your MES has no API, a gateway can read the underlying PLC data instead.

Do you offer industrial IoT solutions for older machines?

Yes. Older machines can be instrumented with retrofit sensors for vibration, current, temperature or cycle counts, or read through their PLCs where a protocol such as OPC UA or Modbus is available. A gateway on the plant network collects the data and forwards it to the cloud. The first project is usually a handful of machines on the line that matters most.

Do you build manufacturing websites as well as internal systems?

Yes. Manufacturing website development is a common first project for companies whose site has not kept up with their capabilities. We build sites with searchable product catalogs, configurators, downloadable specs and quote-request forms that feed your CRM, and keep them easy for your team to update.

How do you modernize a plant application without stopping production?

We avoid big-bang cutovers. Depending on the application, we rehost it on supported infrastructure first, add APIs and a new front end around it, or rebuild it and run the old and new systems in parallel on one line until the results match. Each step is tested and scheduled around your production calendar.

Can you work with export-controlled or defense-related data?

We agree the data-handling model before any work begins. Where ITAR, EAR or contract terms restrict who may access technical data and where it may be stored, the work is staffed and hosted to match, including US-only access where required. For defense suppliers working toward CMMC, we also offer gap assessments and remediation support.
