Mobile App Development Services
Mobile App Development Services
Mobile app development services: native iOS and Android, Flutter and React Native apps designed, built.
PS3G’s mobile app development services cover the whole life of an app: discovery and UX design, native iOS and Android or cross-platform Flutter and React Native builds, testing on real devices, store submission and the maintenance that follows. Our team works from Wilmington, Delaware with a delivery center in India, and we publish apps of our own, so we know what App Store review, crash reports and OS upgrades look like from the owner’s side. Whether you are a founder with a first version to build, an operations lead who needs a workforce app, or a product team inside a larger organization adding mobile to an existing platform, the engineering is the same. Only the engagement is scoped differently.

Apps for any size of organization
A custom mobile app development company has to work at three very different scales, often in the same month. We scope each engagement to the size of the problem, not the size of the client.
- Founders and first versions. You have an idea, a budget and a deadline. We help you cut the scope to a first release that proves the idea, pick one platform or a Flutter build that covers both, and stand up a backend sized for launch rather than for a million users you do not have yet. The work is a fixed-scope project with a written proposal.
- Growing companies. You already have customers and probably a web application. The app needs to share its data, match its look and ship on a regular cadence. A dedicated team of two to four people working month to month usually fits, with your product owner setting priorities.
- Departments inside larger organizations. The app has to pass security review, sign users in through your identity provider, run under mobile device management and talk to an ERP or CRM. We work inside your procurement and security rules; see our enterprise mobility solutions for how that differs from a consumer build.
What we build
Our mobile app design and development services cover six kinds of app. The architecture is different for each, and so is the testing.
- Consumer apps. Apps sold or given away in the public stores: content, commerce, games, utilities. Store review rules, ratings, in-app purchases and analytics matter as much as the code.
- Customer apps. A mobile front door to a service you already provide: booking, orders, statements, support tickets, loyalty. These almost always sit on top of a web application and a shared API.
- Workforce apps. Field service, inspections, inventory counts, approvals and timesheets for people who do not sit at a desk. Offline mode, barcode and photo capture, and single sign-on are the usual requirements.
- Healthcare apps. Patient portals, telehealth visits, appointment and intake flows, remote monitoring. These need HIPAA-ready architecture from the first screen, which is the subject of our healthcare software development page.
- IoT companion apps. The phone app that pairs with a device over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, shows its data and pushes alerts. Our IoT work includes a fall-detection system for seniors built around sensors in footwear, with the alert path running from the device through a gateway to the cloud.
- Kids and education apps. Learning content, progress tracking, parent controls and the privacy rules that apply to minors. We built and publish EasyLearning4Kids, our learning app for ages 1 to 5.
Native vs cross-platform: how we choose
There is no default answer. The choice depends on who your users are, which device features you need, what your web team already knows and how long the app has to live. We put the options side by side in the first discovery session and recommend one in writing.
| Approach | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) | iPhone-first audiences, heavy use of camera, HealthKit, ARKit or widgets, apps where Apple’s own look is expected | A second codebase if you also need Android |
| Native Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) | Android-first markets, rugged or kiosk devices, background services, deep hardware access | Same: a separate iOS build |
| Flutter (Dart) | One team shipping iOS, Android and web from one codebase with a custom, brand-driven UI | Dart is a new language for most web teams; a few device features need native plugins |
| React Native (TypeScript) | Teams that already run a React web app and want to share logic, components and people | Native modules are still needed for some hardware features; upgrades need care |
Hybrid app development, meaning a web app wrapped in a native shell, still has a place for content-heavy apps and internal tools where the budget is tight and the device features are few. We will tell you when that is enough and when it is not. The long version of this comparison is in our guide to native, hybrid and cross-platform apps.
Our process
- Discovery. A short assessment of the users, the features, the systems the app must connect to and the constraints (compliance, devices, deadlines). Output: a scoped backlog, an architecture note and a written proposal.
- UX and visual design. Wireframes, then clickable prototypes you can put in front of real users before any code is written. We design for both platforms’ conventions rather than forcing one look on the other.
- Build in sprints. Two-week iterations with a working build on your phone at the end of each. The backend, APIs and admin screens are built alongside the app, not after it.
- Test on real devices. Our testing center of excellence covers functional, compatibility, performance and security testing on physical phones and tablets, not only simulators.
- Store submission. We prepare the listings, screenshots, privacy labels and review notes, submit to the App Store and Google Play, and handle the questions that come back from review.
- Launch. Phased rollout, crash monitoring and analytics switched on from day one, with a support channel for the first weeks.
- Maintenance. OS updates, store policy changes, library upgrades and the next features, under a maintenance agreement or a continuing team.

What drives cost
App development cost is driven by a small number of things: the number of screens and user roles, how many platforms you ship on, whether a backend and admin console have to be built, the integrations (payments, maps, identity, ERP), the compliance regime (HIPAA, COPPA, PCI), the depth of testing and the maintenance you will need after launch. Design polish and animation add real hours too.
We do not publish rates, because an honest number needs a scope. What we do is give a fixed-scope quote after the assessment and explain every line in it. For a plain-language breakdown of the drivers and labelled industry ranges, read how much it costs to develop an app.
Backend, APIs, security and compliance
An app is only the visible half of the system. Behind it sits an API, a database, authentication, push notifications, file storage and usually an admin console. We build that layer on .NET or Node.js, host it on Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, and document the API so your web team or a future vendor can use it. Our API development and integration work covers connecting the app to payment providers, mapping services, identity providers and the line-of-business systems you already run.
Security is designed in, not bolted on: encrypted transport, token-based sign-in with short-lived tokens, secrets kept out of the app bundle, secure on-device storage, certificate pinning where it is warranted, and a review against the OWASP Mobile Application Security Verification Standard before release.
For healthcare, we offer a HIPAA-ready option: a risk assessment, business associate agreements with your hosting and messaging vendors, audit logging, access controls and encryption of protected health information at rest and in transit. We run this discipline every day in our HIPAA-compliant EHR and telehealth platform, DocVilla, which ships its own patient and doctor apps on iOS and Android. Our HIPAA compliance consulting team can also review an app you already have.
Testing across devices
Mobile testing is where many agencies cut corners, and it is where users find out. We test on a device matrix agreed with you at the start: the OS versions and screen sizes your analytics show, plus the low-end Android phones that reveal performance problems first. Coverage includes functional and UI tests, interrupted sessions (calls, low battery, loss of signal), slow and switching networks, accessibility with VoiceOver and TalkBack, and automated regression suites so each release does not break the last one.
Our software testing practice can also take on testing for an app another team built. The working checklist we use is public: see the mobile app testing checklist.
After launch: maintenance and analytics
Apple and Google ship new OS versions every year, change store policies between them, and deprecate APIs with notice periods that are easy to miss. Third-party libraries move just as fast. An app that nobody maintains starts crashing within a year or two, or gets removed from a store for a policy it did not know about.
Our maintenance agreements cover OS and library upgrades, store compliance, crash triage, small enhancements and a defined response time, documented in the agreement rather than promised in copy. Analytics are set up at launch so you can see onboarding drop-off, feature use and retention and decide what to build next on evidence. The same team that handles website maintenance and support runs mobile maintenance, so one agreement can cover your site, your web app and your mobile apps.
Engagement models
| Model | What it looks like | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed-scope project | A defined deliverable, a written price and a schedule | A first version, a redesign, a migration from a hybrid shell to native |
| Dedicated team or staff augmentation | Named engineers working in your tools and rituals, month to month, scaled up or down | Products with a roadmap and an in-house product owner; teams that want to hire app developers without recruiting |
| Managed services | We run the app, backend and releases under a defined SLA | Apps in production whose original builders have moved on |
| Advisory | Architecture review, platform choice, a second opinion on a vendor’s proposal, fractional CTO time | Any size of organization before a large commitment |
How we start: a first conversation, a short assessment, then a written proposal. You can start small and scale when it works.
Why PS3G
- We publish our own apps. EasyLearning4Kids, our kids’ learning app, has 5-star ratings on the App Store and Google Play. DocVilla ships patient and doctor apps to medical practices across multiple states. We live with store review, ratings and OS upgrades as owners, not only as contractors.
- Full lifecycle in one place. Consulting, design, build, test, run and govern, from a single team, so there is no hand-off gap between the agency that built the app and the one that maintains it.
- Over a decade in business, with a US office in Wilmington, Delaware and a delivery center in India that gives you overlapping hours and round-the-clock support. If you are looking for a mobile app development company near you in Delaware, New Jersey, Philadelphia or New York, our US team can meet in person.
- A testing center of excellence with mobile automation, performance and security testing as standing practices, not an afterthought.
- Depth beyond mobile. Microsoft and open-source certified engineers for the backend, cloud and data work an app depends on, plus IoT and AR/VR builds when the app has to talk to hardware or render in 3D.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to develop a mobile app?
It depends on scope, platforms and integrations, so we give a schedule in the proposal rather than a generic figure here. A small first version on one platform is a matter of months; an app with a custom backend, several user roles and ERP or EHR integration takes longer. Discovery is where the schedule becomes concrete, and it usually takes a few weeks.
Should I build for iOS, Android or both?
Look at your users first. If your analytics or your customer base show one platform dominating, start there. If you need both from day one and the app does not depend on deep hardware features, a Flutter or React Native build covers both with one codebase. If you need the best of each platform’s hardware and design language, two native apps are the right answer.
Can you help me hire app developers for my own team?
Yes. Our staff augmentation model places iOS, Android, Flutter or React Native engineers inside your team, working in your repositories, sprints and chat, for as long as you need them. You can scale the group up or down month to month, and convert the arrangement to a fixed-scope project or managed service later if that fits better.
Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?
Yes. We set up the developer accounts in your name, prepare listings, screenshots, privacy labels and data-safety forms, submit the builds and answer the review team’s questions. The accounts, the code and the signing keys belong to you. We also plan for the policy changes both stores make between OS releases.
Can you build a HIPAA-compliant mobile app?
Yes. We run our own HIPAA-compliant EHR and telehealth platform, so the controls are familiar: a risk assessment, business associate agreements with hosting and messaging vendors, encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, audit logging and secure session handling. We design these in from the first screen rather than retrofitting them before launch.
What happens after the app is live?
You choose. Some clients take the code and run it in-house; most keep a maintenance agreement for OS updates, store compliance, crash triage and small changes, or keep a part-time team for the roadmap. Either way you own the code, the accounts and the documentation, and nothing locks you to us.
