React Native App Development Services

React Native App Development Services

React Native app development services: cross-platform iOS and Android apps that share code with your web front end, built and maintained by PS3G.

Email hello@ps3g.com

PS3G is a React Native development company for organizations whose web front end already runs on React and who want their iOS and Android apps to share that code, that design system and those people. React Native renders real native controls from JavaScript or TypeScript, so the result is a native app, not a web page in a wrapper. A founder who built a React web product can add mobile without hiring a second team; a growing company can move validation rules, API clients and components between web and mobile instead of maintaining them twice; a product group inside a larger organization can keep one front-end platform under one set of standards. We scope the engagement to whichever of those you are.

When React Native fits

Cross platform mobile app development services come in two main flavors, React Native and Flutter, and the choice usually follows your team rather than the app. React Native is the right call when:

  • You have a React web app. Business logic, form validation, API clients, state management and even parts of the component library can be shared. Your web developers can read, review and eventually maintain the mobile code.
  • You hire from the JavaScript ecosystem. TypeScript, React and npm are the most common front-end skills on the market, which matters when you want to hire app developers of your own after launch.
  • Over-the-air updates matter. JavaScript-level changes can be delivered to installed apps without a store release, within the stores’ rules, which helps teams that ship small fixes often.
  • The app is screens, data and forms. Customer portals, ordering, bookings, dashboards, messaging and most workforce apps are a natural fit. Graphics-heavy or hardware-heavy apps may be better served by Flutter or by native Swift and Kotlin.

A note on the phrase “hybrid app development company”: React Native is often grouped with hybrid frameworks, but it does not run your interface in a web view; each button, list and text field is the platform’s own control. The older hybrid approach (a web app inside a native shell) is still an option for simple content apps, and we will tell you if that is all you need.

What we build

  • Customer apps that extend a React web application: accounts, orders, bookings, statements, support, notifications.
  • Consumer apps for the App Store and Google Play, with in-app purchases and subscriptions handled through each store’s billing.
  • Workforce apps with offline queues, camera and barcode capture, maps and single sign-on; see enterprise mobility for the requirements that come with them.
  • Healthcare apps on a HIPAA-ready architecture, built with our healthcare software development team.
  • Rescues of React Native apps built elsewhere that are stuck on an old version, failing store review or crashing in production.

React Native, Expo, native modules

New apps are written in TypeScript on a current React Native release with the New Architecture enabled and the Hermes engine, using Expo for the project setup, native build configuration and release tooling. Expo Application Services gives us cloud builds for both platforms, store submission and over-the-air updates from a single configuration. Navigation uses Expo Router or React Navigation with deep links mapped from the start; server state uses TanStack Query; client state uses Zustand or Redux Toolkit when the app needs it; forms use React Hook Form with shared validation schemas that can run on the web too.

When a feature needs a native capability no library provides (a vendor’s Bluetooth SDK, a payment terminal, HealthKit or Health Connect, a scanner), we write the native module in Swift and Kotlin using the Expo Modules API or a TurboModule. Our native iOS and Android engineers sit on the same team, so a missing module is a task on the board rather than a project risk.

Concern How we handle it in React Native
Sharing code with the web app A monorepo with shared packages for models, validation, API clients and design tokens
Native features without a library Expo Modules or TurboModules written in Swift and Kotlin
Performance Hermes, the New Architecture, list virtualization, Reanimated for animation on the UI thread
Offline and sync Local database (SQLite or WatermelonDB), queued mutations, conflict rules
Security Secure storage over Keychain and Keystore, pinned certificates, no secrets in the bundle, OWASP MASVS review

Send us a link to your web app and we will come back with a view on how much of it can be shared with mobile.

Testing and release

Shared code lowers the testing bill but does not remove it: iOS and Android differ in permissions, keyboards, notifications, deep links and background behavior, and React Native sits on both. We test on real devices against an agreed matrix, with Jest and React Native Testing Library for components and logic, Maestro or Detox for end-to-end flows on device, and manual passes for accessibility with VoiceOver and TalkBack. Our testing center of excellence runs the same discipline for apps we did not build through our software testing service.

Releases run through a pipeline: a signed build for each store from every merge, TestFlight and Play internal testing for beta groups, staged rollouts and over-the-air updates for JavaScript-only changes within store policy. We prepare listings, privacy labels and data-safety forms and submit under accounts in your name, and maintenance agreements include scheduled React Native and Expo upgrades so the app does not fall behind.

Engagement models

Fixed-scope project for a defined app; a dedicated React Native engineer or team inside your product group, month to month; managed services where we run the app, backend and releases under a defined SLA; or advisory work such as a code review of an existing React Native app or a framework decision. How we start: a first conversation, a short assessment, a written proposal.

Why PS3G

React is one of the front-end stacks we build web applications with every week, which is why our React Native work starts from your web code rather than from a blank project. We publish our own apps, including EasyLearning4Kids, our kids’ learning app with 5-star ratings on both stores, and the patient and doctor apps of our HIPAA-compliant EHR and telehealth platform, DocVilla. More than a decade in business, a US office in Wilmington, Delaware, a delivery center in India and a testing center of excellence stand behind the work.

Frequently asked questions

How much code can a React Native app share with a React web app?

Logic, data models, validation, API clients, state management and design tokens share well, often most of the non-visual code. Screens themselves are usually written separately, because a good phone layout is not a shrunken web page, though shared components are possible with care. We assess your web codebase first and tell you what is realistic before quoting.

Is React Native a hybrid app?

Not in the web-view sense. React Native renders the platform’s own native controls and runs your JavaScript in a dedicated engine, so lists, buttons and text fields are real iOS and Android components. Hybrid apps run a web page inside a native shell. The two are often confused, and the difference shows in performance, feel and access to device features.

Should we use Expo or plain React Native?

Expo for almost every new app. It provides the build, submission and update tooling, a curated set of native modules and a safer upgrade path, and it no longer limits you to its own modules: custom native code is supported through the Expo Modules API and development builds. Plain React Native still makes sense for some existing apps with unusual native setups.

Can you fix or take over a React Native app that is stuck on an old version?

Yes. We review the codebase, dependencies, crash reports and store status, then plan the upgrade in steps: moving to a supported React Native and Expo version, replacing abandoned libraries, enabling the New Architecture where it is safe and restoring a test suite so each later upgrade is routine. The app keeps shipping while that work proceeds.

Can over-the-air updates replace store releases?

Only for changes limited to JavaScript and assets, and only within the stores’ policies, which do not allow changing the app’s purpose or bypassing review. Native code changes, new permissions and new SDKs still need a store release. We use over-the-air updates for small fixes and content, and a normal release train for everything else.
