IT Staff Augmentation and Dedicated Development Teams

IT Staff Augmentation and Dedicated Development Teams

IT staff augmentation and dedicated development teams: .NET, web, mobile, QA, data and cloud engineers who join your team in days.

Email hello@ps3g.com

IT staff augmentation puts engineers from PS3G inside your team, working in your tools and reporting to your lead, for as long as you need them. A dedicated development team goes a step further: a self-managed group with its own lead that delivers a product or a stream of work for you month after month. Both models exist for organizations of every size.

IT Staff Augmentation and Dedicated Development Teams - PS3G

A founder can hire developers for a first version without building a payroll. A growing company can add a .NET or mobile specialist for a project its team cannot cover. A department inside a large organization can scale a team up for a program and down when it ends, inside its own security and procurement rules. You choose the people, you set the priorities, and we handle the hiring, the retention and the replacements.

Extra hands or a whole team, without a six-month hiring cycle

Hiring a senior engineer takes months of sourcing, interviews and notice periods, and the need often changes before the person starts. Staff augmentation services solve the timing problem: profiles within days, interviews with your team, a start date measured in weeks at most, and the ability to end or extend the engagement with notice rather than severance.

It also solves the specialty problem. Few organizations can justify a full-time performance tester, a data engineer or a Flutter developer, but many need one for a quarter. Our bench covers the Microsoft stack and the open-source stacks, so you can hire .NET developers, web developers, app developers and testers from the same partner, with one contract and one point of contact.

Roles we provide

  • .NET engineers. ASP.NET Core, C#, Blazor, Entity Framework, SQL Server and Azure, including engineers who have migrated .NET Framework applications. See our .NET development services.
  • Java, PHP and WordPress developers. Spring, Laravel and WordPress for applications, APIs and content platforms.
  • Front-end engineers. React, Angular, TypeScript, HTML and CSS, with accessibility and performance experience.
  • Mobile developers. Native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), React Native and Flutter, with app-store release experience. See mobile app development.
  • QA engineers and automation engineers. Manual and automated testing with Playwright, Selenium, Appium, Postman, JMeter and k6, from our testing center of excellence.
  • DevOps and cloud engineers. Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, containers and monitoring.
  • Data engineers and BI developers. ETL and pipelines, data warehouses, SQL, Power BI and other reporting tools.
  • Project managers and business analysts. Requirements, backlog management, delivery coordination and stakeholder reporting, for teams that need structure as well as hands.

Every engineer we place is a PS3G employee, not a subcontractor found for the request, which is what makes the quality and replacement commitments below possible.

Models and how to choose

There are three ways to get outside engineering capacity, and the right one depends on who manages the work and who owns the outcome.

Model Who manages the work What you get Best when
Staff augmentation You. Our engineers join your team and report to your lead. Named individuals, full-time or part-time, billed monthly. You have a technical lead and a process, and need more hands or a specific skill.
Dedicated development team Shared. A PS3G team lead manages delivery; you set priorities and accept the work. A stable, self-managed team (engineers, QA, lead) working your backlog month after month. You have a product roadmap but not the management capacity, or you want a team that stays together.
Project outsourcing PS3G. We own the delivery of a defined scope. A fixed-scope deliverable at a fixed price, with change requests priced separately. The scope is clear and you want to buy an outcome, not manage people.

Many clients move between models: a project engagement becomes a dedicated team after launch, or an augmented engineer becomes the seed of a dedicated team. Project outsourcing is described under custom software development, and running systems under an SLA is managed services. The software development outsourcing guide compares all three in more depth.

How it works

How staff augmentation works

  1. 1

NeedsA first conversation to understand the stack, the work, the team the engineer will join, the time-zone overlap you need and the duration you expect.

  2. 2

Profiles in daysWe send a short list of matching engineers with experience summaries and availability, usually within a few business days.

  3. 3

InterviewsYour team interviews the candidates, technical test included if you want one. You choose; we do not assign people you have not met.

  4. 4

OnboardingAccounts, access, equipment policy, repository walkthroughs and the first tasks, with a PS3G onboarding lead making sure the engineer is productive in the first week rather than the first month.

  5. 5

Weekly reportingA short written report of work done, hours, blockers and upcoming items, alongside whatever ceremonies your team already runs. Monthly check-ins with your account manager catch problems early.

US management, India delivery, overlapping hours, IP and security

Account management, escalation and contracts sit at our headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. Engineers are based in the United States and at our India delivery center, and you can ask for either or a mix. Offshore software development works when the hours overlap, so India-based engineers keep a schedule that shares several working hours with US teams every day, attend your stand-ups live, and do asynchronous work outside that window. For clients who need engineers in the same time zone throughout, we place US-based staff.

Intellectual property and security are handled in the contract, not by trust. The agreement assigns IP in the work to you, our engineers sign confidentiality terms that flow down from your NDA, and work happens in your repositories, your cloud accounts and your tools, so nothing lives only on our side. Engineers follow your security policies: company-managed accounts, multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access and, where you require it, your device standards, background screening and training. For regulated work we sign a business associate agreement or your vendor security terms.

Quality, retention and replacement

Three things decide whether an augmented engineer works out: the match, the first month and continuity. We handle the match through interviews you control. We handle the first month through a named onboarding lead and a check-in at the end of it, where either side can say it is not working. We handle continuity by employing our engineers directly, paying attention to their growth, and keeping them on your engagement as long as you want them.

If an engineer leaves or is not performing, we replace them with a candidate you interview, and the outgoing engineer documents and hands over their work. Knowledge is kept in your repositories, wikis and tickets from day one for exactly this reason. Replacement terms are written into the agreement.

Engagement models

  • Dedicated team or staff augmentation. Monthly, scale up or down with notice, named engineers you have interviewed.
  • Fixed-scope project. When the work is better bought as an outcome, we quote it as a project instead.
  • Managed services. When the need is to run and support systems rather than build them.
  • Advisory. A team-structure or capacity assessment before you decide between hiring, augmenting and outsourcing.

How we start: a first conversation, a short assessment, a written proposal. The proposal lists roles, seniority, location, hours and the monthly cost per role; we do not publish hourly rates.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between staff augmentation and a dedicated development team?

With staff augmentation you manage the engineers directly: they join your team, attend your meetings and take tasks from your lead. A dedicated development team comes with its own PS3G team lead who manages delivery against priorities you set, so you need less management capacity on your side. Both are monthly engagements with named people; the difference is who runs the day-to-day work.

How quickly can an engineer start?

Profiles usually go out within a few business days of the needs call. After your interviews, start dates depend on the engineer’s availability and your onboarding steps (accounts, access, equipment policy). Engineers on our bench can start within days of selection; engineers finishing another engagement are scheduled around its end. The proposal states the start date for each role.

Can we interview and reject candidates?

Yes, and we expect you to. You interview every candidate, run a technical exercise if you want one, and choose who joins. If a candidate is not right, we send more profiles. After the start, the end of the first month is a formal checkpoint where either side can call for a change without penalty, and replacements are written into the agreement.

Do you offer nearshore or onshore staff augmentation as well as offshore?

Our engineers are based in the United States and at our India delivery center. US-based engineers work in your time zone and can be onsite in the New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York and Delaware area when needed. India-based engineers keep overlapping hours with US teams. You can specify the location mix in the needs call, and the proposal prices each role by location and seniority.

Who owns the code our augmented engineers write?

You do. The agreement assigns intellectual property in the work to you, and the work is done in your repositories and your accounts from the first day. Our engineers sign confidentiality terms that mirror your NDA. When an engagement ends, there is nothing to transfer because nothing was held on our side; the handover is a documentation and knowledge exercise, not a file transfer.

Is IT staff augmentation cheaper than hiring?

Sometimes, but the stronger case is flexibility and speed: no recruiting cost, no benefits administration, a start in days instead of months, and the ability to scale down when the work ends. For a role you need permanently, hiring may be the better choice, and we will say so. For a project, a specialty or a period of growth, augmentation usually wins on total cost and risk.
