How PS3G designed, built and published EasyLearning4Kids, an offline-first learning app for ages 1–5 with a one-time unlock and 5-star store ratings.

This kids learning app case study covers a product PS3G owns end to end: EasyLearning4Kids, a learning app for children aged 1 to 5, designed, built and published by our own team on the iOS App Store and Google Play. It teaches nine categories, from alphabets and counting to animals and everyday things, works offline after download, and unlocks everything with a single one-time purchase instead of a subscription. It carries 5-star ratings on both stores.

Goal

Many learning apps for very young children are built around subscriptions, with content drip-fed to keep the renewal coming. We wanted the opposite: an app a parent could install once, hand to a one-year-old safely, and keep using through preschool without a monthly fee. The learning goal was equally plain, the recognition skills a child is expected to have before kindergarten: letters, numbers, shapes, colors and the names of familiar things.

Three constraints followed from that. The app had to work without an internet connection, because toddlers use tablets in cars, waiting rooms and grandparents’ houses. It had to be usable by a child who cannot read, alone. And it had to be built and maintained by our own team alongside client work, which meant every design decision had to earn its place.

What we built

EasyLearning4Kids ships with nine categories, each a set of pictures that play their name when tapped, with animations and music around them.

Category Content
Capital alphabets Upper-case letters A to Z, free for every user
Small alphabets Lower-case letters
Counting Numbers from 1 to 100
Shapes, colors Basic shapes and everyday colors
Fruits, vegetables, animals Familiar items and creatures by picture, name and sound
Everyday things Objects a child sees at home and outside
  • Offline by design. All content ships inside the app. After download, no connection is needed; the internet is used only for updates, and we recommend Wi-Fi for the first download.
  • One-time purchase. The download is free and the capital alphabets category is free. A single in-app purchase unlocks all nine categories, with no subscription and nothing to cancel.
  • Two platforms. iOS and Android were released together, so families with mixed devices get the same app.

Design for toddlers and for parents

The two audiences want different things, and the design had to satisfy both.

For the child

The test for every screen was whether a child who cannot read could use it without help. That led to pictures and sounds as the whole interface: tap a picture, hear its name, see it move. Every category behaves the same way, so a child who has learned one can move to the next alone. Sound and animation are the reward, tuned for a toddler’s attention span rather than an adult’s.

For the parent

A parent deciding whether to hand over a phone asks three things: is it safe for the child to use alone, will it work where we are, and what will it cost over time. The answers were built into the product rather than written into a FAQ: an app made to be safe for a child to use alone, offline operation, and a one-time purchase. Parents can also use the app together with the child, which is how the youngest users start.

The graphics were produced by our own graphic designers so that letters, numbers and objects would look consistent across all nine categories, and the sounds, animations and music are there to reward every tap with an immediate response.

Launch and results

EasyLearning4Kids was released on the iOS App Store and Google Play under PS3G’s own developer accounts. Because both stores apply stricter review rules to apps aimed at young children, the purchase model and the content were planned to meet those rules rather than fixed after a rejection.

The app has 5-star ratings and reviews from parents on iOS and Android. We do not publish download figures. The launch announcement called it the number one toddler learning app; on this site we stick to what can be verified: the store ratings, the offline design and the one-time price model. More than anything, the result is that the app is still available on both stores years after release, which is the real test of a product built and maintained by its own developer.

Related services

EasyLearning4Kids is the clearest example of our educational app development work, and of what to expect from PS3G as a mobile app development company: we design, build, publish and maintain, and we have done it for our own products as well as for clients.

If you are a founder with an app idea, a fixed-scope first version is the usual start. A publisher or school district tends to need a dedicated team and a release calendar, and a larger organization often needs us inside its procurement and security process. In every case the first steps are a first conversation, a short assessment and a written proposal.

Tell us who the app is for and what it should do. We will reply with questions, not a sales pitch, and set up a short video meeting if it helps.
