Hire WordPress Developers
Hire WordPress Developers
Hire WordPress developers from PS3G: custom themes, plugins, WooCommerce and performance work from engineers who maintain WordPress sites for a living.
Hire WordPress developers who write PHP and JavaScript properly, not site builders who assemble plugins until something works. PS3G’s WordPress engineers build custom themes and blocks, write plugins, extend WooCommerce, integrate WordPress with CRMs and back-office systems, and keep sites fast and secure over years. They join your team as named individuals or as a dedicated team, for organizations of every size: a founder whose site needs features no plugin provides, a marketing team that publishes daily and needs a developer on call, or a department inside a larger organization running many sites on one platform.

Hire WordPress developers who are managed, not just placed
The WordPress engineers you hire through PS3G come from our WordPress development practice, which builds and maintains WordPress sites for clients and runs our own. They are PS3G employees who have passed a screen by our senior PHP engineers, and they are supported by a technical lead and an account manager throughout. The difference from a staffing agency is practical: when a plugin update breaks checkout on a Friday afternoon, the engineer has colleagues who can help, and someone accountable on our side.
Our engineers connect WordPress to CRMs, email platforms, payment providers and custom APIs, and work alongside the React and PHP developers on our bench when a site becomes an application.
What they can do for you
WordPress developers for hire through PS3G are matched to the kind of work below.
- Custom themes and block development. Themes built from a design, custom blocks for the block editor, block patterns and theme.json configuration, so editors can build pages without breaking the design.
- Custom plugins. Features that no plugin provides, written as plugins with proper hooks, settings, security checks and upgrade paths, instead of code pasted into functions.php.
- WooCommerce. Custom product types, checkout changes, shipping and tax rules, payment gateway integration, subscriptions and the performance work a busy store needs. See our e-commerce development page.
- Integrations. Connecting forms, accounts and orders to CRMs, marketing platforms and internal systems through the REST API and webhooks.
- Performance and Core Web Vitals. Caching, image and script handling, database cleanup, hosting configuration and the measurement to prove it, as described in our guide to Core Web Vitals.
- Security, upgrades and multisite. Hardening, update management, staging workflows, backups, incident cleanup after a compromise, and multisite networks for organizations with many sites.
Seniority levels
A mid-level WordPress developer builds templates, blocks and plugin features from designs and specifications, follows WordPress coding standards and tests on staging before release. A senior developer architects the theme and plugin structure, decides what belongs in custom code versus a well-maintained plugin, sets up deployment and staging, handles performance and security, and reviews the team’s work. A lead engineer owns a portfolio of sites or a multisite network, the hosting and update policy and the relationship with your marketing, design and IT teams.
How hiring works
- Brief. A first conversation on the site or sites, the theme and plugin inventory, hosting, WooCommerce if present, the integrations, how changes are deployed today, and the reporting line and hours you need.
- Vetted profiles in days. A short list of WordPress engineers with the sites and plugins they have built, their WooCommerce and integration experience, and their availability.
- Interviews. Your team interviews each candidate. A short review of a plugin they wrote and a session on a real task in your staging site shows whether they are a developer or a site builder.
- Start. Access to hosting, repositories, staging and the admin, a written review of the plugin inventory and security state in the first weeks, and first changes deployed through staging so you see the process.
- Scale monthly. Add a developer for a redesign or a store launch, drop to a part-time maintenance arrangement afterwards, or convert an individual into a dedicated team, with notice.
Tell us about your site and we will send WordPress profiles that match.
Vetting: a technical screen by our own engineers
Senior PS3G PHP engineers screen every WordPress developer on real code. The candidate reviews a plugin with planted problems (a form handler with no nonce check or capability check, output that is not escaped, a query built from unsanitized input, a script enqueued on every page, an option autoloaded with a large payload, a cron hook that fires more often than intended) and explains each. They are asked how they would structure a custom block, how they would extend WooCommerce checkout without breaking updates, how they would move a site between hosts, and how they would diagnose a slow page.
The pitfalls when you hire web developers for WordPress are well known. The pool is large and much of it is page-builder and plugin assembly rather than development, which works until a feature or a scale problem needs real code. Security practice varies widely, and WordPress is a frequent target. Many candidates have never used version control, staging or a deployment process. WooCommerce is often overstated on resumes. And some strong PHP developers do not know WordPress conventions and fight the platform. Our screen separates these groups before you interview.
Individual developers vs a dedicated team vs a fixed-scope project
You can hire PHP developers with WordPress depth individually into your team, engage a dedicated team led by PS3G, or hand us a defined site or store to build as a project through our wordpress development company practice.
| Option | Who manages | Fits when | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual WordPress developers | Your marketing or IT lead | You have the site and a process, and need a developer available for features, fixes and integrations | A senior WordPress engineer working part-time with a marketing team on blocks, landing pages and CRM integration |
| Dedicated WordPress team | A PS3G lead, against your priorities | You run several sites or a busy store and want development, updates and support handled as one stream of work | Two developers and a lead maintaining a multisite network and a WooCommerce store with monthly releases |
| Fixed-scope project | PS3G owns delivery | The design and features are defined and you want a price for the whole site | A custom theme and plugin set built from an approved design, with migration from the old site and training for editors |
Individuals and teams are monthly engagements under our staff augmentation terms and scale with notice; projects are quoted as a whole. Updates, backups, monitoring and support after launch run as a managed service under a defined SLA through our website maintenance service, and a site audit before you decide what to change is advisory. Each begins with a first conversation, a short assessment and a written proposal with monthly cost per role. Hourly rates are not something we publish.

Frequently asked questions
Can I hire WooCommerce developers for an existing store?
Yes. The profiles for a store will show engineers who have extended checkout, built custom product types, integrated payment gateways and shipping providers, and handled the performance and update problems that busy stores have. The first weeks usually go to a review of the plugin stack and the slow queries, because most store problems live there.
Will your developer work with our page builder, or insist on replacing it?
We work with what you have. Elementor, other builders and the block editor all appear in the sites we maintain. A senior engineer will tell you where the builder is causing performance or maintenance problems and what it would take to change, but a rebuild is your decision, not a precondition of the engagement.
Do you handle hosting and ongoing maintenance as well as development?
Yes. Development can be an individual engineer or a team, and maintenance (core, theme and plugin updates on staging first, backups, uptime and security monitoring, and support) can run as a managed service under a defined SLA. Many clients combine a part-time developer with the maintenance service.
Can your WordPress developers also work in Laravel or plain PHP?
Most of our WordPress engineers are PHP developers first, and some work in Laravel as well; the profile will say. When a site has grown into an application that WordPress is straining to support, we can plan a move to a framework or a headless setup with a React front end, using the same people.
Where are your WordPress developers located?
In the United States and at our India delivery center, with account management in Wilmington, Delaware. For marketing teams that need same-day changes, India-based engineers can often complete work before the US morning, and they keep overlapping hours for live calls. You set the mix in the brief and the proposal prices it per role.
