Power Apps and Power Platform Development

Power Apps and Power Platform development from PS3G: low-code apps, Power Automate workflows.

Email hello@ps3g.com

PS3G provides Power Apps development and wider Power Platform consulting for organizations of every size: canvas and model-driven apps that replace spreadsheets, paper and email chains; Power Automate workflows for approvals and hand-offs; Dataverse data models; Power Pages portals; and the environment governance that keeps low-code development from turning into a sprawl nobody owns. Whether you are a founder on Microsoft 365 who needs a tracking app this month, an operations lead with a dozen Excel processes, or an IT director asked to govern the apps staff have already built, we deliver working apps and a way to manage them.

Power Apps and Power Platform Development - PS3G

Power Apps and Power Platform development: what we build and for whom

The Power Platform is Microsoft’s low-code toolset: Power Apps for applications, Power Automate for workflows, Dataverse for data, Power Pages for external-facing sites, Power BI for reporting and Copilot Studio for agents. It is included in part with many Microsoft 365 licenses, which is why so many organizations already have apps built by business users. The strength is speed: an intake form with an approval chain that would take months as custom code can be live in weeks. The weakness is that speed without structure produces apps nobody can maintain.

We are a low code development company only in the sense that we use the right tool for the job. The same engineers build custom .NET and web applications, so when a requirement is beyond what Power Apps does well, such as heavy calculation, thousands of concurrent users or complex user interfaces, we say so and build it another way. We do not resell Microsoft licenses, and licensing is one of the first things we check because it shapes the design.

How we work

Process

  1. Find the right processes. We list the spreadsheet, email and paper processes that cause the most rework, and pick the ones where a Power App or flow pays back fastest. For a founder that is a single conversation; for a larger organization it is a short discovery with each department.
  2. Check licenses and data. Which plans you hold, whether the data belongs in Dataverse, SharePoint or SQL Server, and what the choice means for cost and performance. This step prevents the most common surprise.
  3. Build in short cycles. A working app in front of users early, refined weekly. Model-driven apps for records and process; canvas apps for mobile and task-focused screens.
  4. Automate and integrate. Power Automate flows for the approvals and hand-offs around the app, and connectors or Azure services to the systems the process touches.
  5. Govern and hand over. Solutions promoted through environments by pipeline, ownership assigned, administrators trained, and either a handover or an ongoing arrangement.

Team

A Power Platform consultant who maps the process and builds the app, a Dataverse or data engineer for the model and integrations, a .NET developer for pro-code extensions when needed, and QA from our testing center of excellence. The team sits in Wilmington, Delaware and in our India delivery center.

Stack choices

Dataverse is the default data store for model-driven apps and for anything with security roles, auditing or relationships; SharePoint lists suit simple, low-volume canvas apps; SQL Server or Azure SQL suits apps that share data with existing systems. Microsoft Power Platform development pairs naturally with the rest of the stack, so Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Teams and Azure are usual neighbors, all covered by our Microsoft technology services team. Where a process needs reporting, we model it for Power BI from the start rather than exporting to Excel later.

Send us the spreadsheet process that hurts the most and we will tell you whether a Power App fits.

Where this fits with the rest of your systems

Power Apps are usually the front door to processes that live in other systems. A procurement request app writes to the ERP; an onboarding app creates accounts in Entra ID and tasks in Teams; a field inspection app feeds a Dataverse table that Power BI reports on. Automation beyond the Microsoft stack, including robotic process automation and AI-driven document handling, is covered by our AI and RPA solutions, and Power Automate desktop flows are often the first step before a wider automation program.

When an app outgrows the platform, we have a path: the Dataverse model stays, and the front end or the heavy logic moves to a .NET or web application that reads the same data. Designing for that from the start is part of the architecture step.

Examples by organization size

  • A founder-led company on Microsoft 365 tracking jobs, equipment or applicants in a spreadsheet. We build a canvas app on Dataverse or SharePoint with a Power Automate approval flow and a Power BI report, within the licenses already held where possible. Fixed scope, live in weeks.
  • A growing company with a dozen manual processes across operations, HR and finance. We run a short discovery, build a model-driven app for the core process with flows for the hand-offs, integrate with the ERP, and continue adding apps under a monthly arrangement with a governance model in place from the first release.
  • A department inside a larger organization that has accumulated apps built by staff and now needs them inventoried, secured and supported. We set up environments, data loss prevention policies and solution pipelines, rebuild the critical apps properly, retire the rest, and train the administrators, inside the organization’s security and change-control rules.

Engagement models

  • Fixed-scope project. A single app and its flows, a Power Pages portal, or a governance setup with a defined deliverable list and a fixed quote.
  • Dedicated team or staff augmentation. Power Platform developers inside your team on a monthly basis.
  • Managed services. We administer environments, support apps and flows, and handle changes under defined SLAs.
  • Advisory. Power Platform consulting on licensing, architecture, governance, or a review of apps already built.

How we start: a first conversation, a short assessment, a written proposal.

Why PS3G for low code development on the Power Platform

More than ten years on the Microsoft stack, with engineers certified on Microsoft and open-source technologies and a team across a US headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware and an India delivery center. Because the same team builds custom .NET and web software, we recommend low-code where it fits and say so where it does not. We build and run our own products, including our HIPAA-compliant EHR and telehealth platform, DocVilla, so apps that touch regulated data get the access-control and audit practices we use ourselves. Our testing center of excellence tests flows and integrations under real volumes before they go live.

Frequently asked questions

What can Power Apps do that a spreadsheet cannot?

Validation at entry, role-based access, an audit trail, a mobile interface, attachments, and workflows that notify and route records automatically. A spreadsheet becomes a liability when several people edit it, when it holds personal data, or when it drives an approval. Power Apps on Dataverse or SharePoint fixes those while keeping the familiar form-and-list feel.

Canvas app or model-driven app: which do we need?

Model-driven apps are built on Dataverse and suit record-centric processes with stages, relationships and security roles, such as case management or asset tracking. Canvas apps give full control of the screen and suit mobile, task-focused or kiosk use. Many solutions combine them: a model-driven app for the office and a canvas app for the field, on the same Dataverse tables.

Do we need Dataverse, or can we use SharePoint lists?

SharePoint lists work for simple, low-volume apps and are covered by most Microsoft 365 plans. Dataverse adds relationships, business rules, auditing, row-level security and better performance at volume, and it is required for model-driven apps, but it needs Power Apps licensing. We check what you hold and recommend the store that fits the process and the budget.

How do you keep citizen-developed apps from becoming a risk?

Environment separation for development, test and production; data loss prevention policies that control which connectors can be used together; solutions and pipelines so changes are promoted rather than edited live; an inventory of apps with named owners; and a review process for apps that touch sensitive data. We set this up and train your administrators to run it.

Can Power Automate connect to systems outside Microsoft?

Yes. Hundreds of standard connectors cover common SaaS products, and custom connectors wrap any REST API. For legacy applications without an API, Power Automate desktop flows automate the user interface. Where logic becomes complex we move it to an Azure Function and call it from the flow, which keeps the flow readable and the logic testable.

Do you resell Power Platform licenses?

No. We advise on which plans a design needs and what your existing Microsoft 365 licenses already include, and you purchase through Microsoft or a reseller of your choice. Keeping license revenue out of the engagement means our recommendation on Dataverse versus SharePoint, or Power Apps versus custom code, is based on your needs.
